Today, we are proud to introduce Behrad Javidirad as the newest member of team Investible.

He brings 15+ years of experience in accounting, finance and operations in the banking and finance industry, and recently repatriated to Australia from NYC where he worked as a consultant in the startup and high-growth sector. Behrad is passionate about climate action, sustainability, and emerging tech. His aspiration and adaptability have quickly seen him become a vital member of the Investible team.

Learn more about Behrad and his unique perspective, below.

Firstly, tell us about your journey to date

Prior to joining Investible, I was a consultant in the Accounting and FinOps world working with startups and high-growth companies in New York City. I repatriated home at the end of 2021 after six years abroad and wanted to continue helping small companies and founders on their journeys to disrupt, innovate and enable meaningful change in the world. That's how I found Investible, through an old friend who happens to be a part of Investible's founder community.

What excited you about joining the Investible team?

One thing that really excites me about Investible is the genuine zeal and enthusiasm with which the entire team goes about their efforts. Not just in finding great investment opportunities, but in ensuring we provide as much support as we can to founders, whether in coaching, operational support, or making connections.I also appreciate Investible's vision for the future and the fact that it's continually evolving. Being adaptable and agile in almost every facet of business these days is key to future-proofing and it motivates me to join the journey. Finally (and probably what excites me most) is the Climate Tech Fund and Greenhouse. When I moved home, I wanted to make sure my time and energy weren't just going to a purely profit-driven company. Climate action and sustainability are something my wife and I are very passionate about, and I appreciate how purpose-driven the Investible team is towards these causes.

What do you love most about the startup ecosystem?

The bias to do compared to the bias to get approval in the corporate world. I enjoy a variety of challenges and daily reprioritisation whilst striving towards key goals.I also love being a part of a shared commitment and drive to challenge the status quo. Working in the startup environment isn't without its challenges, but it certainly does provide the opportunity to try to do things better.

What's your personal philosophy?

"Be Water."It's the sage life advice of Bruce Lee and something that really resonated with me at a challenging moment in my life in 2021. I was on a plane heading into a period of discomfort and uncertainty, watching the biopic when his famous quote struck a tone and stuck with me. All in a moment it became clear that the more we resist and struggle against things out of our control, the more difficult our inevitable experience will be.So, Be Water, be shapeless and adapt to your circumstance.

What's something new you've learned recently?

I was never a big fan of history growing up, but as I've grown (I think) and time's gone on, and especially following my experience living in the USA, I've become very interested in the history of the world especially from a geopolitical standpoint. Being the child of migrants also, having an understanding of how things were has helped me better understand why things are and how they might be.It's been fascinating learning about the ongoing turf-wars of our planet and the constant battle for resource supremacy. It's especially relevant today and for Investible's mission to invest in climate tech startups that challenge the resource framework of society.

Something about you that might surprise people?

I tend to wear my heart on my sleeve so if anything about me surprises you, let me know. You can get in touch with Behrad on Linkedin.
