Investible is proud to announce its participation in a $2.2 million funding round by jobs platform WORK180.

WORK180 has built its platform to serve as an advocate for working women. It pre-screens employers against a set of 35 criteria, including pay equity, flexible working, women in leadership and paid parental leave, before they are able to list job postings on the site.

Since its launch in 2015, WORK180 has grown quickly, expanding into the UK and securing more than 100 clients including Microsoft, NAB and BHP.

The company says the money raised will be used to hire an additional 15 staff, initiate its expansion into the US and double down on its recent growth in the UK.

Despite having successfully raised funding previously, this round was unique for WORK180. CEO Gemma Lloyd was approaching investors while seven months pregnant, and needed to conduct many pitches via video link.

She says the circumstances meant it was more important than ever that she work with investors who align with her company’s values.

“I’ve always looked to work with investors who can provide more than just a cash injection and Investible has consistently demonstrated that it understands what we’re trying to achieve and that it wants to support us on that journey,” said Lloyd.

“Raising capital is challenging as a woman and even more challenging while pregnant or as a new mum. But this process has also helped us identify investors who genuinely care about what we do and understand that traditional job platforms aren’t working for half of the job market.”

Hugh Bickerstaff, Chief Investment Officer at Investible, says he had been following WORK180’s progress since their first seed raise.

“It’s not every day that you get to invest in a great business that is doing so much good.”

“From our first meetings with Gemma and Valeria (Ignatieva), we were impressed with their professionalism and passion to solve this problem and saw their potential to scale quickly.”

“Investible and our investors are proud to be involved with WORK180 as they drive employers to raise the bar for workplace policies for women across the globe.”
